Follow this tips if you are planning to visit Siena town
in the future.
Where to park
Near the main entrances to the town, can find a parking.
Not free parking, in Siena is almost impossible to find a
free parking. I use the parking in Porta San Marco, direction
Siena south, is one of the biggest. But also the parking near
Porta tufi is big. Do not search a park in Porta Camollia,
no parkings here or Porta Ovile because is always full.
Parking cost 1.50 Euro/hour
Where to eat
Hundreds of restaurants in Siena, most of them expensive.
The most beautiful restaurants are located in Piazza del Campo,
in front of the tower, but you can find many restaurants and
trattoria also in Via Pantaneto. The cheapest place is Ciao
restaurant, in piazza del Campo, a good self service with
a good choice of dishes.
Where is the best supermarket
The biggest is Coop, near the train station. If you are
inside the town follow the signs for hospital or train station.
Once you are close to the train station, cross the bridge
which pass over the station and you will see on your right
the Centro Commerciale Le Grondaie, inside there is the supermarket.
Also furnished is the commercial area of Massetana, exit Siena
south. Two supermarkets here, Penny Market (the cheapest)
and Conad.
Where is the hospital
Near the train station. Inside the town there are many signs
for the Hospital. Follow the H or indications for Ospedale
Nuovo
Where is an Internet point
In via Pantaneto, behind Piazza del Campo there are at
least 5 Internet Points. In some of them you can also bring
your laptop and connect to the Internet.
Where to find a map of the town
In Piazza del Campo there is the tourist information office
with free maps and brochures of Siena and the area around.
