moto. Distances are bigger than you may think.

car. The highway A12 pass from Livorno town and arrive until
Rosignano Marittimo, after this town a fast road (not a pay
road) connect this area with the south of Italy. The highway
begin again in Civitaveccchia, 60 Km north of Rome.
Exist also the FI-PI-Li the road which connect Florence to
Pisa and Livorno and viceversa (this is not a pay road). You
can also reach Florence or Pisa/Lucca with the highway first
A12 and then A11.
By Train
Also for trains Livorno is a good choice, the main station,
quite far from the centre of the town, is well connected with
Florence, Rome and the south or with Turin (the north/west
of Italy) and France.
With the train you can also reach the most beautiful places
of the province of Livorno, infact they are located on the
coast or very close to it.

By Bike
Livorno is a good area for those who love biking. The area
is almost flat from north to south, it's on the coast, and
is easy to reach the most important places. The only matter
is the traffic, the main road (via Aurelia) is very busy during
the day, in this case you can pass from the interior but here
you will find many hills.
By Bus
Buses are also useful, but for long distances is much more
used the train. Use buses only if you need to reach small
towns.
