The ancient town of Populonia is the symbol of the etruscan
coast. Situated in a magnificient position high on a promontory
it has amazing views of the sea, the Apuan hills and the islands
of Elba, Capraia and Corsica.
Populonia is also socalled the town of Iron, as it was discovered
here by the Etruscans.
Very interesting is the area of Baratti with the necropolis
and the park of San Silvestro. Definitely a must see in the
area, better during the late afternoon maybe tasting a gelato
on the top of the castle and enjoying the best sunset of Tuscany.
