The connection with the south (Rome) is through the SS2 a fast road, not payment road. The highway begin in Civitavecchia 100 Km far.

With the north of Tuscany, Pisa and Livorno, always with the SS2.
With Siena with the road called Siena > Grosseto, Siena is 60 Km away

The area is almost flat from north to south in the area around Grosseto until Alberese (south) or in the direction of Castiglion della Pescaia, Punta Ala (north). Staying on the coast you can also reach Livorno or Pisa, but the road is full of traffic here.
